    Placing the handle far as possible increases the perpendicular distance from turning point to line of action of force, hence small force applied at the handle produces large moment, making it possible to open a door easily

    Increasing perpendicular distance between pivot and line of force increases moment making it easy to open door or loosen nut

    The longer the perpendicular distance to the line of action of the force, the greater the moment of the force, hence less force is needed
