For even distribution of heat from fire
To distribute heat uniformly at the bottom of a beaker
For uniform/even distribution of heat at the bottom of the beaker
since the Bunsen burner heats at a specific point with high temperature which can cause breakage of the glass beaker, a wire gauze is used to supply heat uniformly on the beaker.
Wire gauze distributes heat evenly and therefore the beaker is heated uniformly. If heated at one point it expand unevenly leading it to crack.
For uniform distribution of heat at the bottom of the beaker
