    Heat transfer

    Quest
    Quest Pundit
Added an answer on February 19, 2021 at 5:31 pm

In radiation particles are not used for transfer as in conduction. These particles hinder conduction due to their vibration.

    Floating and Sinking of submarines

    Quest
    Quest Pundit
Added an answer on December 13, 2020 at 2:42 pm

Submarines are fitted with air(floatation) tanks which can be filled with water or air. When the tanks are filled with air the submarine becomes lighter(less dense) hence floats and when they are filled with water the sub becomes heavier hence sinks.

    Concrete and steel

    Quest
    Quest Pundit
Added an answer on December 13, 2020 at 2:35 pm

Concrete and steel have very close linear expansivity. They therefore expand and contract at the same rate. This prevents cracking and hence destruction of concrete structures due to non-uniform expansion.

Zener breakdown occurs as a result of electric field (potential difference) leading to the rapture of covalent bonds to release electrons. While Avalanche breakdown results from collision of free electrons with atoms leading to ionisation of the atoms.

    Work Done on Horizontal Plane

    Quest
    Quest Pundit
Added an answer on September 4, 2020 at 2:36 pm

Work is the product of force and distance meved in the direction of force. In this case the force acts perpendicular to the distance covered. The product is therefore zero hence no work done.
