    The glass of the thermometer is thick..the hot water will cause uneven expansion on the glass this making it to break

    Clinical thermometer measure temperature up to 43°c, hot water have higher temperature thus breaking the thermometer

    A clinical thermometer has small temperature range. The glass will crack/burst due to excessive pressure created by expansion of mercury.
