    Work done = Force × distance in direction of force Force as a result of weight of bucket and it's contents acts downwards. In this case no vertical distance is covered. Therefore work done is zero.

    When the grid is set a higher negative potential few electrons/cathode rays strike the screen thus the brightness is reduced. When it's set at a higher positive potential more electrons/cathode rays strike the screen thus the brightenes increases.
